This video, produced by the Tibetan Government-in-Exile shows previously unreleased footage showing bound and defenseless Tibetans being brutally beaten in Lhasa. Chinese police are seen beating Tibetans arrested following powerful demonstrations against Chinese rule that took place across the entire Tibetan plateau last year. The uprising began with Buddhist monk-led protests in Lhasa, Tibet's capital to commemorate the anniversary of the original March 10, 1959 uprising against China's occupation. The protests spread quickly throughout Tibet and continued through the Spring and into the Summer, as the Chinese government filled Tibetan areas with troops and paramilitary police, brutally suppressing any dissent. The second part shows the horrific injuries suffered by a young man named Tendar who was arrested and tortured by Chinese police after attempting to stop the beating of a monk. [Warning: very graphic]. He succumbed to his injuries and died shortly after. The third section shows some footage smuggled out of Tibet showing the heavy military presence in Tibet around the time of the 50th anniversary of the March 10th 1959 uprising in Lhasa. Less
