Local officials perform a ceremonial groundbreaking for the Martin Luther King Center expansion project Monday, Aug. 16, 2010 in Rock Island. The expansion project will allow the center to more than double the number of youths served. The new community room will have capacity for over 400 versus the current level of 260. The construction, renovation and related expenses for the expansion/renovation are projected to total $3.6 million.
