42,833 Views - In the summer of 1990/ Early 1991, Clark Hagins set out to write a full fledged "Rock Opera" about a homeless veteren residing in San Pedro California after serving in George H. Bush's Gulf War ( Hagins could easily for-see the coming War as Saddam and his men refused to leave Kuwait Summer 1990)... who fell into the underworld of spending all his money for drugs and black prostitute women. "Maury" would be the character that Hagins would resurrect from his earlier 1985 and 86' era ambitions before hooking up with Guitarist Phil Keegan (Dr. Phil) and Greenhouse Effect in Redondo Beach California. In 1990 September, G.e. and Keegan had suddenly parted ways and Hagins and bassist Rick Carmody found themselves immersed in a recording project of some 72 songs,..ofcourse unable to record them all due to no record label interest or enough money of their own, Carmody and Hagins turned to Lomita California's A.L.S. STUDIOS and producer Andrew "Dice" Houston who also worked with the Mentors amongst others. "Hey Negrita" and "Star" would come barreling out of the speakers as new great idea concepts for G.e's "idealism" vision of a world they sought...totally different from their work with Keegan earlier. The final project released in February of 1991 "Going Legit" was compressed too far down due to financial issues - to make any opera sense,..but was a huge seller for G.e. as they demonstrated rock's new direction of 1990's 'Grunge rock' more refined and sophisticated suddenly than it had been in the years with Keegan....Some accused G.e. of being 'less heavy' and abandoning the heavy metal and Late 1960's Black Sabbath roots in favor of a new 'punk rock' and emo direction but the new G.e. was here to stay,...later on in 1991, they would pen "Brandy" which has now today in 2008 become one of the world's HUGEST SONGS of the internet in cyberspace !! - Youtube Video Meta Cafe Top Videos 2008 !! - "Coke Snorting" is a devestatingly powerful Song as it displays the incredible guitar of PHIL KEEGAN (Dr. Phil). Keegan is one of the most respected guitarists to ever emerge from Southern California as he led Greenhouse Effect music to top views on the internet in 2006 !! This madman 'inventor' of some of rock's most wildly influencial styles including 'Grunge rock" has become the thing of legend as he now is found playing in clubs around Northern California with Top Area Club Rockers Roughpuppy. But it is the memories of G.e. and his experience with Rock's biggest Internet band of the world that rekindles the fondest times for Keegan amongst them playing Large festivals with other bands back in the late 1980's and early 1990's, often sharing the stage with some of Torrance and Redondo beach California's biggest and best most talented bands such as Prop 13 and Death & Taxe$. "Coke Snorting" is simply a brilliant display of wild psychedelic guitar as recorded by engineer Bill Krodel in Redondo beach's Pendragon Studios. The guitar tones are brilliantly great (typical work of Krodel),...the 'alternative metal' lead singing of Clark Hagins strikes of Eddie Vedder or Scott Weiland - though G.e. existed way long BEFORE Pearl jam - or the rest of the grunge scene. Some great foot peddle interlocked powerful drumming by Hagins and some fine bass playing by Rick Carmody make this song an absolutely classic Rocker !! - A long drawn out 'industrial' sounding metal song with some great lyrics too at lyricsmode.com !! Myspace Top Artists 2009 - The Greenhouse Effect Mixtape 1991 Clark Hagins. NO TAKERS. JANGO.RADIO FM is so eXciting - it has the Sharpest Sound on the WEB and its got GREENHOUSE EFFECT BRANDY sounding crystal clear !! ROCK ON ! ! -------------- "No Takers" is just such an angry little Diddy and it was marvelously recorded and mixed by Studio Engineer Bill Krodel in June of 1992 with Clark Hagins playing all intruments.
