Nicolas Lainez, an anthropologist and photographer who is French Spanish, invited Prevent Human Trafficking to Vietnam. Mr. Lainez organized the panel discussion on the "Sex Industry and Family-caring Strategies" and spoke on "Filial Debt, Financial Debt: On Mobility and Servitude of Vietnamese Women Engaged in Prostitution in Cambodia. He addressed the regional cultural influences, which force families to send one child for forced labor to cover the family's debt. This child or young woman is used as collatoral to secure the payment of debt. Mr. Lainez said the issue is complex and requires more anthropological studies, which he will try to find the answers in the next four years he is in Vietnam.
