Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Kelly Ayotte publicly expressed here support for using military tribunals to try cases involving terrorism suspects. “The military tribunals are appropriate forum for terrorists because our civilian court system was not set up to try enemies of our country,” said Ayotte, formerly the Attorney General for the State of New Hampshire.The comments came at a March 13, 2010 event where Ayotte received the endorsement of Senator John McCain. Ayotte hopes to replace retiring Senator Judd Gregg in the U.S. Senate. Less
