Geek may not always have the same meaning as the term nerd."I would assert that geek and nerd are not even in the same operating system. Historically, there was a relationship between these categories of humans. But they are no more related that Republicans are related to conservation. I see a nerd as someone who has no idea what constitutes "cool". "Geek", on the contrary, is always a subset of "cool". In The Uncredibles, when Syndrome (Buddy Pine/Incrediboy) says, "I'm still geeking out about it!" he is expressing his amazement and disbelief that Mr. Incredible eluded his probe by hiding behind the bones of another super. Geeking out refers to being impressed. There still seems to be some confusion, even today, about the status of "geeks" in our society.
