The Portland Development Commission is analyzing the potential for a new urban renewal area downtown. Some areas that we are studying include Con-way and Northwest Portland, Goose Hollow, the retail core and Cultural District, and the broader University area. The Evaluation Committee is made up of 24 members and is chaired by Mayor Adams. Their charge is to determine if there should be a new urban renewal area or areas formed in the downtown and if so, what are the key projects, boundaries and maximum indebtedness of the new area(s). We anticpate a recommendation from the Committee in Spring 2010.
