This video consists of a 24-min panel discussion on October 22, 2011 and 4-min interview on November 15, 2011. Among the points I make on panel: why the demand for specific goals from the Occupy Movement is old-media thinking - what's the headline? what's the lead story? - and fails to take into account the capacity for complex, multi-issue discussion with social media such as Twitter, Facebook, Google+, YouTube, and blip.tv. I also discuss the Occupy Movement as a resurgence of direct democracy, and emphasize the need for police to respect the First Amendment - a point I continue to discuss in my interview on Nov 15, in which I focus on Mayor Michael Bloomberg's unconstitutional obstruction of the press and treatment of protesters in his clearing of Zuccotti Park. Joining me on the panel with clearly articulated views across the political spectrum are Nicole Gelinas, Jed Morey, Basil Smikle, and Thomas Borelli, anchored by Tai Hernandez on Fox-NY's Good Day Street Talk. Chuck Scarborough interviewed me on the NY Nightly News on Nov 15. More on Occupy Wall Street at http://paullevinson.blogspot.com/2011/11/occupy-wall-street-chronicles-part-1.html Less
