Based in the Lake District, Cumbria, the Patterson Boatworks team are boat builders of modern composite and traditional yachts and launches.The most recent project has been the building of a fast electric boat, that is a wonderful blend of the old and the new, traditional skills married to state of the art hull dynamics and electrical motive technology.She is our first electric performance vessel, a joy to be aboard, fast, almost silent, and incredibly cool. The perfect super-yacht tender, or Docklands commuter launch? The boat has a foam carbon hull, and semi traditional topsides in English oak, cherry and douglas fir, powered by a 23kw Lithium battery pack. Elektra is undergoing testing now, but initial trials give her a top speed of 15 knots (duration 1 hour), and she's most efficient at cruising speed 6.5 knots which gives her a range of at least 70 - 100 miles - the reason for lithium, it's only 1/3rd of the weight of lead acid, and the lifespan, 3000 recharges.
