Another animation for the talented designer: Callum MacRaild. I sat down with this logo with a couple of ideas, but tried a number of others. All I knew is I wanted to animate the “spikes” along with playing with colors. Most of the effort was spent timing out the “spike” burst, along with an effect or two to compliment it. Scaling down the multiple layers to simulate the depth really sold this one.Technical: I knew I wanted to animated the “spikes” so I imported those sections by copying the ...
This is a very simple animation. The concept was obvious from the logo design itself. With just a little detail work on the ufo ship and the business character it was well received by the client.Technical: The spinning circular lights on the spacecraft posed the largest challenge. I used some distortion effects to warp a simple repeating effect around the ship. I used an iris wipe transition that was duplicated to create the light beaming effect (on the ship, and on the ground). Lastly, I used...
This is another beautiful logo from Richard Scott. He gave me creative freedom to animate this logo. Once I introduced the idea of an old film look into the animation I kept running with it from the film scratches, grain, misalignments down to the smaller screen size and distorted audio.Technical: I used a film effects filter to add the grain and scratches. I manually created several frames to simulate the film being misaligned. I roughened the edges of the frame and cropped it to make it into...
This was a larger team project. We brought on our Designer Yasmin to create some style frames for the animation. We had our 3d animator Jacob create the 3d globe and bars. I took that together and added some accents for the final animation within after effects.Technical: After the Yasmin’s style frames were approved by the client Jacob worked on the 3d content and rendered it out as tif sequence which I brought into after effects. I used a lens blur in conjunction with particular 2 to create t...
Spin My Logo is all about the details. When presented with this logo I was excited to create this artistic piece. The animation was approved on v1, but we had to try a different music track which is the one you will find here in v2.Technical: Working backwards I manipulated a mask to grow the roots. For the branches of the tree I parented each branch to the trunk and scaled them over time. I used two different leaf compositions. One for the single leaf, and one for the double leaf. I copy and ...

This was another team project. After doing some research about the company and our initial conversation I gave them this concept. In order to execute this we brought on our designer Yasmin to create the additional assets. This was an earlier addition. The longer approved addition gave a little more time at the start of the animation.Technical: Sometimes it is easier to animate backwards. Utilizing masks that change over time I worked backwards from the H & Q shapes to form the road and magnify...
