New ANA brigade to be stationed in Nuristan (Video)

JALALABAD (PAN): A new fourth Afghan National Army (ANA) brigade of the 201st Selab Military Corps would be stationed in the eastern province of Nuristan, an official said on Monday. The new brigade would be deployed as part of security transition in 25 districts of six provinces from coalition troops to Afghan forces, the corps commander told Pajhwok Afghan News. Maj. Gen. Mohammad Zaman Waziri insisted that they are well-equipped and prepared to maintain security after the withdrawal of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in 2014. Security forces would soon retake the Waigal district, which has been under militant control for the past one year, once they launch a large-scale operation, he said. They would also reduce security threats in Khogyani, Sherzad and Shinwari districts of Nangarhar province and launch anti-militant operations in Ghorband and Alasai districts of Kapisa, he added.
