MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): The women’s affairs department in northern Balkh province on Thursday created a commission to fight violence against females, an official said. Women’s Affairs Minister Hassan Bano Ghazanfar, Governor Atta Mohammad Noor and other senior officials attended a ceremony marking the creation of the commission. Ghazanfar also attended the inaugural ceremony for a women’s vocational training centre and a hostel for female house-job doctors, graduating from the medical faculty of the Balkh University. She said the commission activities would focus on investigating cases of violence against women and seek ways of curbing the practice. The body will promote awareness among people about law on Elimination of Violence against Women. PAJHWOK/Zameer Saar
