KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): The Kandahar Education Department says 18 of the 30 schools in Panjwai district of the southern province remain closed due to security problems.
“We are endeavoring to reopen these schools at the start of new academic year to enable students resume their studies in new buildings,” the department head, Sher Agha Sapi, told a press conference in Kandahar city.
Governor Tooryalai Wessa, who visited Panjwai town to discuss with local officials good governance and development projects, said he would never accept the closure of schools in Panjwai under any circumstances.
He asked provincial and district authorities to increase their cooperation and efforts at reopening closed schools.
