    • 17 dead in Taliban attack on apex court

      KABUL (PAN): A Taliban suicide bomber blew himself up at the entrance to the Supreme Court in the nation’s heavily-fortified capital on Tuesday, killing 17 civilians and wounding 39 others, police said. Women, children and court employees were among the casualties, Kabul’s deputy police chief, Col. Mohammad Daud Amin, told Pajhwok Afghan News after the car bombing that happened at 4.15pm. The casualties include eight women.

    • Airport attack ends with killing of 7 bombers

      KABUL (PAN): Triggered by a brazen assault on the Kabul International Airport early Monday morning, clashes between insurgents and security forces ended with the killing of all seven attackers, the Ministry of Interior said. Two of the militants blew themselves up while the rest were killed by the security personnel, a statement from the ministry said. A clearing operation is underway inside the building that the Taliban used to target the airport.

    • Dozens of shops gutted by Jalalabad fire

      JALALABAD (PAN): Dozens of shots were gutted and a man wounded on Friday as a result of a blaze and an explosion in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province. The fire broke out at a location between the Mia Aslam Market and the Department of Information and Culture at 12 noon, an official said. Deputy Governor Mohammad Hanif Gardiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News the blaze was triggered by a gas cylinder inside a shot in the area.

      GARDEZ (PAN): Ten schoolchildren, two US soldiers and a policeman were killed in a suicide bombing in the Chamkani district of southeastern Paktia province on Monday, an official said. The attacker detonated his explosives-rigged motorcycle in front of a high school in the district bazaar at around 12pm, the provincial police chief said.
