The Vermont Legislature Vermont Commission on Family Recognition and Protection 2007-2008 Legislative Session The Vermont Commission on Family Recognition and Protection was created by the speaker of the house, Gaye Symington, and the senate president pro tempore, Peter Shumlin, for the purpose of reviewing and evaluating Vermont’s laws relating to the recognition and protection of same-sex couples and the families they form. The commission will present its findings and recommendations to the Vermont house and senate committees on judiciary by the end of April 2008. Members: Sen. John Campbell Rep.
