How to Make The Perfect Steak - No Spoons Here

Sometimes you just deserve a nice big juicy delicious slab of steak. Learn how to make the perfect steak by following these tips! So easy you will never have to spend an arm and a leg at your favorite steakhouse again! :)

New York Strip Steak
(cut at least 1 inch thick)
Olive Oil

1. Let steak come to room temperature. (Let it sit out for about 4 hours before you start cooking)
2. Give each side of your steak a generous rub of olive oil & freshly ground salt and pepper
3. Warm up your skillet for 5 minutes on medium-high heat before adding the steak.
4. Once skillet is warm, place steak in the middle of the pan and let cook for 4-5 minutes
5. Once first side has golden brown crust, flip to other side
6. Let second side sit for another 4-5 minutes
*Only flip ONCE and do not puncture with fork or temperature thermometer!
7. Test the middle of the steak with your finger to gauge how it is cooked.
*Rare steaks will have a lot of give, well-done steaks will be very firm.
*If you like yours very well done, feel free to finish it off in the oven for a few more minutes so the outside doesn't burn.
8. Once your steak has been cooked to your liking, remove from heat, transfer to another plate, and let sit for 5 minutes
*Your steak will continue cooking during this time. Cutting into it too soon will result in a loss of juices and flavor.
9. After 5 minutes, your perfect steak will be ready to serve, eat, and enjoy :)
