China's Sustainable Energy Program

The Energy Foundation (EF) is a partnership of major donors interested in solving the world's energy problems. It works to advance energy efficiency and renewable energy—new technologies that are essential components of a clean energy future. Jiang Lin is Senior Vice President at the Energy Foundation and Chairman of EF's China Sustainable Energy Program. He was born in China and educated in that country as well as at the University of California at Berkeley. He was a Senior Scientist with the China Energy Group at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

A few minutes before Michael Killen started to interview Jiang, he said, "Fundamental to what we are trying to do is get the United States and Chinese policy makers to realize that energy—emissions—is a huge and important challenge to both countires, not to mention the rest of the world, and that both countries need to work together overcome this challenge." Jiang went on to say, "We give grants to four types of organizations, to help Chinese officials with information to make informed decision."

In the interivew Michael ask Jiang about the energy and emissions situation in China and how his organizations is helping, including types of grants the Foundation issues. He replies about the type of organizations in China and US that can help.
