mediasandbox.co.uk Shot at the Media Sandbox 2009 Ideas Lab, this story was made in response to a 'real question', posed by John Bradford Managing Partner of jbsh LLP:What would a young entrepreneur sandbox look like?Can we use the creativity and technical skills around Bristol to build a safe & secure sandbox for younger entrepreneurs (under 16yr old) to experiment with real-world tools & solve real-world problems in preparation for when they leave school?Can we include a non-monetary reward system (such as Whuffie, or academic credits) to incentivise them and perhaps help secure their first job?What 'Lego' bricks would they need (Yahoo Pipes, API's, PBWiki, Wordpress, etc)?How do we manage the boundary with the 'rest of the World'? e.g. can a Bristol company commission a student (or team) to deliver a non-commercial mini-project? could a geography student commission a Bristol company to deliver a Google Maps mash-up? Also considered, a related question, posed by Rebecca Binns, Sector Development Advisor - Creative Industries, South West of England Regional Development Agency:How could we establish a talent bank where skilled expertise can be pooled across sectors and resources shared?How does the Region ensure it retains its talented individuals through the current economic difficulties when there will be increasing numbers of highly skilled professionals facing redundancy?
