The bridge gained notoriety in the infectious Simon and Garfunkel ditty "The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)" and as seen in the opening credits of the classic TV show "Taxi." But now, when New Yorkers want to head over the East River to Queens, they can take what will soon be called the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge. Announced in December 2010 by NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the re-naming honors the legacy of the beloved former mayor of New York, who served the city from 1978 to 1989. In this video, Hizzoner Mayor Koch reacts to the news of the announcement and ponders whether New Yorkers will actually start calling the bridge by its new name. ; For more videos by Mayor Koch, visit Mayor at the Movies .
