About this episode

This video was produced as a complementary piece to the written case study of the same name, "Dealing Full Force", by NSI Senior Researcher Viviane Weitzner. The production documents diverse perspectives of community members from the Lutsel K'e Dene First Nation in Canada's Northwest Territories regarding their community's experience negotiating with mining companies. While the video was produced specifically for Indigenous communities in West Suriname who will soon be affected by large-scale mining, it will be of interest to Indigenous communities both in Canada and around the world considering negotiating with mining companies. The video was made possible thanks to the financial support of the International Development Research Centre and was produced by Marcelo Saavedra-Vargas
