About this episode

For weeks, Iraqis have joined in the protests of the Arab Spring calling for democracy and basic rights. Our partner, Yanar Mohammed of the Organization of Women's Freedom in Iraq, is one of the organizers of the demonstrations. Recently, she alerted us that a young activist named Alaa Nabil had been detained and tortured in an attempt to silence him. We spoke with her on Skype, and here is part of our conversation.
