Untitled PDX Comics Doc: Work in Progress Screening

This short film is a work in progress screening for my Untitled PDX Comics Doc. I screened it at the Public Library Association Preconference, "Librarians Get Graphic", organized by Sara Ryan (also one of my subjects). Please note: additional permissions may be required for still photos by Erin Marr and original artwork by Paul Guinan. Historical photographs from the Portland City Archive. DIY film by Shaun Huston.I am on the geography and film studies faculty at Western Oregon University. I began working with digital video to get a different perspective on the kinds of issues I often address in my writing and teaching (composing for the film frame, the significance of different camera angles, etc.). I've also begun to use moving images to explore geographic themes, particularly ones related to place and landscape. My primary camera is a Panasonic DVX100A. I edit in Final Cut Express HD and Final Cut Pro. Some of my work is just me and my camera, and some is the result of collaborations with friends and colleagues. My current major project is about comics creators in Portland, Oregon USA: http://olympus_mons.typepad.com/pdxcomicsdoc
