Organizers are calling a fundraising race held last November an "outstanding success." The first annual "Downtown Traverse City Turkey Trot" was held on November 27. According to organizers, the event was very successful, with 423 runners participating. The run was a fundraiser benefiting numerous local groups; those groups include TART Trails, the Trojan Ski Boosters, the Grand Traverse Bay YMCA and the Trinity Lutheran Food Pantry. The Turkey Trot is planned to be an annual event; the next race is already scheduled for November 26, 2009.
