The key to good standing postures is focus and core stability. I have two videos on this on Namaste Yoga. When you find a point to focus on it will really help you stay focussed and balanced as you say :) Also when you engaged your bandhas from mula bandha through udhiyana bandha right through to jalandarha bandha you will have core strength right through your body to be able to have the strength you need internally to be in the posture. Remember balancing postures are about movement so it is not about “holding” the posture. You will always move in and out of balance in a balancing posture.
