India's Viswanathan Anand saw his third defeat in the 18th Amber Blindfold and Rapid Chess 2008 here at Nice, France, when he could not read Levon Aronian's moves in the blindfold and lost the game. He however drew his Ruy Lopez closed varriation game in the Rapid encounter against Aronian. With this loss Anand with 8.5 points slipped to 3rd spot.
