About this episode

TV-UN

The UAW 1939 GM Tool and Die Strike shows the organization, strategy and tactics of organizing for the UAW at the highpoint. From flying picket squads to strike kitchens the union had an highly organized plan for a successful organizing struggle. It also included that political demand for a labor party that was raised in the early history of the UAW. Walter Reuther was in support of a labor party but later changed his politics and supported the Democratic party along with a witch hunt in the UAW to remove many of the organizers of the union from the 1930's http://www.enotes.com/company-histories/uaw-international-union-united-automobile/afl-forms-autoworkers-union-mid-1930s
