Mickey Rooney joins the cast of community theater actors and actresses from Kalamazoo, Paw Paw, and Battle Creek, Michigan! This video is a trailer for "Eddie in Decatur": a historical movie about the life of Edgar Bergen with emphasis on his time growing up in Decatur, Michigan. Edgar Bergen is the great ventriloquist who created the figures, "Charlie McCarthy" and "Mortimer Snerd". Aspects of Bergen's hometown include the start of his show business career; mentorship from the remarkable Dr. William Bope; lifelong ties to Decatur; and hilarious events in Van Buren County history. Meanwhile, producer Mike Salerno and a snooty ventriloquist dummy named, Rupert Schemburglar, plan to help the local economy by convincing Hollywood to produce a movie about Edgar Bergen and Decatur. Will they succeed? "Eddie in Decatur" is a non-profit, volunteer production. The movie is for general audiences and is set to be released in December, 2011.
