Movie Trailer for "Eddie in Decatur". Edgar Bergen was the famous ventriloquist who created the figure, Charlie McCarthy. Bergen's family moved to Decatur, Michigan in 1908 when Bergen was 5-years-old, and stayed for 11 years. This documentary explores Bergen's life in Decatur: his mentorship from the remarkable Dr. William Bope, the start of Bergen's show business career at the Decatur Village theater, stories of mischief, and Bergen's lifelong ties to his hometown. Meanwhile, producer Mike Salerno and his ventriloquist dummy, Rupert Schemburglar, plan to help the local economy by convincing Hollywood to make a movie about Edgar Bergen and Decatur. "Eddie in Decatur" is an educational movie for general audiences and will be released via Internet and public access TV in the summer of 2011. This documentary is being produced with the facilities, equipment, and resources of the following public access TV stations: AccessVision (Battle Creek, MI), and Public Media Network (Kalamazoo, MI).
