In kthread's vintage 1973 kitchen, the microwave is decorative, two of the four burners work, and the oven runs hot. It's about groovy food. So many of us, we've been running/from the beautiful cooks that we could be becoming. Today, Kristen makes "queen cupcakes" instead of king cake (gâteau des Rois) to celebrate Mardi Gras season. Using Chockylit's recipe for lemon cupcakes with toasted meringue frosting, Kristen adds dulce de leche, blackberries, and mint leaves for the traditional colors of Mardi Gras. Episode also features a kitchen torch.
