Seniors for Seniors, is an adoption event, which pairs senior people with senior cats. The first Seniors for Seniors event, in April 2008, was a success that placed six cats in loving homes. There are many mutual benefits to pairing senior people with senior cats. Seniors tend to have more time to care for a cat and both tend to appreciate a serene companionship. Older cats thrive in a stable and tranquil home. For their owners, the benefits are social, psychological, and medical. Studies show that animal companionship contributes to lowering stress and blood pressure. Seniors for Seniors was inspired by Madalyn Benoit who adopted a 16 year old cat named Slinky from KittyKind. When Madalyn lost her beloved Slinky earlier this year, she suggested a program to match older people with senior feline companions. KittyKind has held two Seniors for Seniors events this year.
