Living History - Authentic Learning Empowered By Digital Technology

This presentation is about a unit of work on Indonesian history. It is about a connection made between a class of Grade 5 students and the Dutch author, Elizabeth van Kampen who lived in Indonesia during the Dutch Colonialism and later Japanese Imperialism of Indonesia. The use of technology 'Bridged the Divide' in culture, generation and history. The students gained an authentic learning experience enabling them to gain a personal insight into the history of their country through regular contact with the author empowered by Web 2.0 and other digital tools.
