Problem: We are wasting energy and creating congestion moving a ton to move a person. Solution: Move only the person. Implementation: Build a Physical-Internet, a network of ultra-light rails and computer controlled vehicles to automate highly repetitive travel. Remove the Parasitic Mass, the mass we pay to move that is not passengers or cargo. Background: About 4 billion of the 8 billion miles Americans drive every day are highly repetitive; kids to and from school, shoppers to and from retail centers, commuters to and from work. We can automate this travel at a savings of 27 cents per passenger mile. Adding 6 feet of solar collectors per running foot of rail, the distributed nature of the JPods network can collect the distributed power of the sun to be energy neutral.
