About this original series

I'm a speaker, videoblogger, video producer, consultant, comedian. I have given presentations about videoblogging at Apple Stores in New York City and Washington D.C., universities such as CUNY, and NYU, and panels including the IMC EXPO, and Vloggercon 2006. I was a Tisch Fellow at the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU a where I built the PowerSuit, a suit embedded with electronics that let me trigger digital video and audio wirelessly by poking and prodding myself. I did a show where I used the the PowerSuit to chat with my future self in 2099. I reccently finished a stint managing the technology education portion of the BX21 Videoblogging after school program in the Bronx for Vision Education and Media, and was a freelance producer for iVillage.com. I spent the last several months producing and hosting an interactive, live, web video talkshow called Reinventing Television, which featured innovative web video producers. I recently relocated down to DC where I cofounded DC Media Makers, an association of web video producers. I will be co-producing a live webcast of Hilary Clinton for the National Community Reinvestment Coalition March 15, 2007. I love giving informative, entertaining presentations about the social implications of the intersection media and changing technology. • Red Burns---Jonny Goldstein's Favorite Memory

For the Interactive Telecommunications Program anniversary alumni like myself were asked to create a video describing a favorite memory of department chair Red Burns. In this video I describe how she let me drag her into the tiny sound recording booth to be interviewed for a project I was doing. Red is claustrophobic, and she was very uncomfortable in the tiny booth. Despite her fear, she stuck out the whole interview. I think this illustrates 2 things about Red: 1) She is brave 2) She support...

    • It makes me happy to watch people making mind maps

I shot this while teaching a class at parsons on visual organization and information design. I didn't want to shoot any of the students or their work without their permission, so I mostly just focused on my face.

    • coworking in One Word: Indescribable

This was shot at IndyHall in Philadelphia. The challenge: describe cworking in one word. People had a hard time with this, as coworking can be so many things. Here's my whack at it: coworking is the phenomenon of a bunch of people who decide to work in the same physical space, even though they don't necessarily work with each other. Coworking appeals to independent entrepreneurs, freelancers, telecommuters, and travellers who don't want to be isolated, just because they work independently. in ...

    • TweetMobile: You tweet, they flap

Here is my interview with one of the creators of TweetMobile, Jorge Just. Here's how TweetMobile works: if you tweet certain words, that causes mechanical birds to flap around in real life. Check the video to see TweetMobile in action.
