There is often a debate on use of appliances in the home and the needs to be balanced include, time, energy, water and chemicals. This article discusses the environmental implications of using dishwashers, washing machines and clothes driers.The big issues are about energy use and how the energy is generated and also about water. The majority of energy is supplied to homes in the western world is generated using fossil fuels and it releases the problem greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide which contributes to global warming and climate change. As global warming develops it is predicted that in many places around the world, and especially in Australia, rainfall will decrease and there will be water shortages.
