In 2005, my campaign for mayor of Brockton -- our campaign -- started in your living rooms, on the streets of Brockton, and in the hearts and minds of people across the country who believe government should, and can, do better. As a first-time candidate, my candidacy was endorsed by political leaders, community activists, and media outlets. Yet, the most important endorsement came from people like you -- 454 generous donors, over 100 volunteers, and 44 percent of the voters in Brockton. But our work isn't done. Brockton continues to be in desperate need of real, sustainable growth; a government that's accountable, competent, and caring; good jobs for people with all types of skills; excellent public schools for my son and for every child in Brockton; a city where no street is safe until every street is safe; and leadership that inspires a new sense of hope about the future. Hope is the key. And I am committed to championing a new kind of leadership in Brockton -- one of candor and respect, vision and purpose, integrity and accountability. I need your passion, your volunteerism, and your financial support to change politics as usual in Brockton. Please join me.
