Sometimes it just time for a new computer... and those old Dell Dimension 8200's have to put in their place once in a while. This video takes care of both in under 4 minutes. You may be wondering what in the world we are doing. Funny, we were thinking the same thing. What happened is we were trying to upgrade the motherboard of an old Dell Dimension 8200, and wouldnt you know that Dells cases, mounts, etc are all proprietary. We, being fueled on beer and an unwarranted sense of confidence decided this was no reason to NOT attempt this. Here are some of the problems we encountered:Heat sink mount didint fit / replaced with the one off the old board.Board didnt line up with the mount tray. Had to drill new holes in the case, then use the feet off the old heatsink to use as spacers. On board peripheral bay didnt line up with old ones. No way to remove the bay, had to saw it off. AGP video card didnt line up with the slot, so had to snip the slot bay to allow it room. After all this, the unit lasted long enough for us to order a new machine. Forgive us, Computer Gods, and let us drink deeply of your new hardware we just ordered. Hooray for excuses to buy new toys!Enjoy.
