On August 5, 2006, Russell Davis was outside of his apartment building on Dewey Ave. looking for the superintendent when Rochester police drove by, spotted him, and proceeded to detain him--with multiple officers drawing and pointing their weapons at Davis. When Davis asked if there was a problem, he was jumped by the cops, beat up, and shoved into a car for nearly an hour until officers could figure out what was going on. Davis was eventually released with injuries and charged with no crime. In this edition of Indymedia Uncut, Davis tell his story at the hands of the RPD and the outrageous conflict of interest that arose when he submitted a complaint to Professional Standards and learned that the same officer that directed the abuse against him was the same officer who was to investigate his claim against the RPD.
