This video was shot at the Avalanche facsimile launch hosted by Printed Matter on 22 May 2010. The Avalanche facsimile, published by Primary Information and distributed by D.A.P., makes the complete set of 13 issues of the magazine available for the first time in 30 years. Avalanche magazine, published by Liza Béar and Willoughby Sharp between 1970 and 1976, focused on art from the perspective of artists rather than critics and investigated new forms of art that were developing in the U.S. and Europe. Appearing in the video are Liza Béar in conversation with Dee Dee Halleck, Joan Jonas, Jeremy Mickel (designer of the reprint), Coleen Fitzgibbon, Betsy Sussler, William Wegman and others, some of whom appeared in or worked on Avalanche. Shot with an iPod nano.
