by piama habib and james charles daherexploring the perimeter of the borough of Brooklyn(originally created for a 9-channel video installation)Brooklyn is a breathing, morphing container full of beauty, culture, potential, neglect, and rich sociological history. We create a story inspired by our journey around the physical and ephemeral edge traveled by foot, bicycle, automobile, boat, and subway. Through this exercise, we identify and own the territory from the outside in.Documenting both similarities and unique qualities of the outlying neighborhoods creates a new map. This map, transformed into an immersive non-linear video installation, becomes a visceral experience of the borough's perimeter bringing the viewer through transitions of color and light. The result is a revelation of Brooklyn's hidden secrets: moments only encountered by those who desire to dig deep.
