It rained a great deal this summer. It rained. It poured. The groundwater rose. In a few short hours it rained almost 7 inches. Flash flood warnings all over the county. Latham park, a small patch of grass dotted with electrical pylons and the occasional tennis court with a long winding creek running through its center like an old cart track. During one such rainstorm the creek rose over its banks and turned the park into a vast red muddy lake, spilling onto a main thoroughfare and causing traffic to be diverted by the blue flashing lights of police cars and the ominous blasts from fire engine horns. The next day, Emily Moore arrived for the 2nd time in our kitchen. The first time she played as part of the duo, Seahorses with her boyfriend Justin Huey. It was this session that inspired a scene in our 48 hour musical film, Love is Dead and caused me to ask Emily to co-star in it. I hope you enjoy it. The song was recorded in the kitchen, and then we stepped out to enjoy the great outdoors.
