Video demonstrating how to simply import 3D COLLADA meshes from Google Warehouse into Second Life, during the open beta preview October 13, 2010. More about the launch of meshes in Second Life: http://gwynethllewelyn.net/2010/10/16/meshed-out/ Music by Torley Linden
This video shows how Hypergrid 1.5 teleporting works under OpenSimulator 0.7. The first few teleports are intragrid, although between different servers (co-located with different bandwidth and on physically separate places, and one is running behind a corporate firewall on an office). Then the fun begins, with a Hypergrid teleport to the University of Edinburgh, where I got some freebies inside boxes. Permissions are preserved and so are the creator tags — even across grids. And a last teleport...
For the sixth time, Neufreistadt celebrates its Oktoberfest, this time having the Tiroler Eck Show Band, who came from SL München to play for us too :)
This video shows the current status of the "City and Spectacle" project, to be presented at the VSMM 2009 — 15th International Conference on Virtual Systems and Multimedia in Vienna, Austria (http://www.vsmm2009.org/). Changes include the "Patriarcal" church and piazza, new detail on the Opera House façades, a remodelation of Rua da Capela, new Palace Gardens, and a redesign of the Canevari Clock Tower. The video of the 3D models actually comes from OpenSimulator 0.6.6 and is very rude and ama...
A glimpse at the immense improvements on OpenSim 0.6.3: scripts can now be edited in-place (inside objects), region crossing is almost as flawless as on Second Life, several levels of cacheing will rezz almost everything in seconds, just like on SL, attachments don't get lost. The experiment was done using a cleared cache on Imprudence. You can hardly see a difference from the loading time on OpenSim — except for my hair attachment :) which took several minutes to rezz :)
Using Damien Fate's amazing two videos showing his Loco Pocos avatars with the (upcoming) FlexiSculptie features from Second Life, I've done a lil mashup to show off Damien's incredible use of this amazing new technology, on a Second Life Viewer near you sometime in the future :) Kudos to Damien for his amazing videos and to Zwagoth Klaar, Kristie Young, and Uchi Desmoulins, who have launched a preview version of a SL FlexiSculptie viewer, one that managed to catch Qarl Lindens' attention! Thi...
Continuing the fight from the previous video!
Christmas tradition? Oh yes! Every year we have the pleasure to fight against the Lindens, where, for once, they're seriously outnumbered and we can unload all our frustrations on them! This year they've even wearing T-shirts with drawings of bull's eye targets :)All fun yesterday. And today, there is more!
This project — the recreation of Baroque Lisbon in 1755, just before the big earthquake which destroyed the city — was used by Beta Technologies as a means to do heavy-duty, intensive use of our own OpenSim mini-grid, to test the technology to the extreme under "real" conditions, with buildings of 8000+ prims in a single region. The video shows how crude logging in can be (the worst-case scenario) but how smoothly things work when everything has rezzed. The result was that the technology is "g...
Thanks to Rose Springvale for the delightful trip, which required hours and hours of properly setting it up, but as you can see, it shows a good part of the CDS; in all its loveliness and splendour!
