happy halloween from the staff at groovy like a movie!
Bill Heffley picked up one of the HVX200s again to experiment with some in-camera painting and focus. The music is from the NiN Ghost album and the talent is stage manager Michael Callahan.
When trying to describe something to a client, often the only to convey what we're talking about is to produce a sample. This is a sample video for a client that wants their project to be slightly gritty, but very high quality. Bill and Mike took the HVX200 out back to do some in-camera painting to acheive the look desired by producer/director Greg. High shutter speed, ultra-warm white balance, handheld with a shallow depth of field all combine to create a fantastic mood.
This summer Groovy Like a Movie worked with a group of students from San Diego's Monarch School. This is one of the two short films produced, shot and edited by the students. Starring Joy Hillrigel and Josh McRae.

I was invited to speak at Palomar College for their Digital Imaging with Photoshop - Real World Examples video series. I'm certainly not a Photoshop expert, but hopefully I offered some value for their students.Special thanks to Bill Wisneski and his entire crew at PCTV; A great bunch of professionals dedicated to providing a quality product for their studet body and the community at large. Palomar has an excellent program and I had a lot of fun!
The Marine Corps Recruit Depot of San Diego found themselves in a bit of a pinch: they needed a commercial for their upcoming annual Bootcamp Challenge, and they needed it FAST. So, naturally, Groovy to the rescue...All that was provided was a flyer of this year's event and a DVD of the footage we had from last years Bootcamp Challenge (edited by the awesome Nili Danielli!)Special thanks to Sean McHenry of MCCS, and Gunny Sgt. Patino for his warm vocal stylings!
We just purchased a new jib to replace one that was stolen out of our van. Dave and Jason took time to come in and give some safety instruction as well as give a lesson on how to take the jib down and put it back up again. Thanks to everyone who gave up time on Saturday to participate!
What happens when we have to convert the stage from TV White to Chroma Key Blue? We call in Stage Manager Extraordinaire, Mike! When Mike kicks it up a notch, get ready for Ludicrous Speed Go!
What do you do when you have a problem with a camera that the manufacturers of the camera can't figure out, and can't reproduce? Well, in our case when I hear that the problem has reared it's ugly head I yell ROLL TAPE ON IT! We now have something to show Panasonic so we can hopefully get our #2 camera repaired and fuly functional! Anyone else ever see this problem in an HVX200?
