Media Roundtable, Community Organizing in the Age of Obama, and Made in L.A. Tea parties. They're everywhere. Or at least you'd think they are if you turned on your TV this week. But what does the coverage--FOX news and otherwise--tell us about the media's interests? And are we getting any smarter when it comes to analyzing the financial crisis? Many would say no. And the media aren't exactly helping. We'll also talk about Obama's major economic speech on Tuesday.Jeff Madrick editor of Challenge Magazine and the author most recently of The Case for Big Government, Sam Seder co-host of Break Room Live, and Brandon Brice of Hip Hop Republicans on the media coverage of the past week.Then, community organizing after Obama. Sally Kohn Director of the Movement Vision Lab at the Center for Community Change and Marshall Ganz lecturer at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government on challenges and opportunities for community organizers. Lastly, we talked to Alexander Zaitchik, co-author of the article "Fake Teabaggers Are Anti-Spend, Anti-Government: Real Populists Want to Stop Banks from Plundering America," about conservative forces puppeteering the tea party moment. He reported on the Tea Party events in Morristown, New Jersey and gave his impressions of participants' concerns.
