While climbing the 14,064' Humboldt Peak a Colorado 14er in the Sangre De Cristo Range for the Ham-14er August 2009 event I decided to equip my pack goat Peanut with a goat-cam (Tachyon XC Helmet cam). Once we reached the saddle 12.9k' to began our accent on the 14k summit I mounted the camera on Peanut's saddle and activated it. I must admit I wound up with what I think is some fascinating and most unusual footage! It's almost as if my goat Peanut knew what he was doing as a videographer! (and darn smart goat he is!) It's most interesting seeing the terrain from a goat's perspective as he surveys the trail and decides which way is the best route around obstacles always keeping his alpha goat in sight! Also as he leans into the abyss and stares at the valley below I wondered what he's thinking ...if at all? I wound up with almost 2-hours of video which is unwatchable in it's raw form. But I've edited it down to less than 10 minutes with a techno beat. The camera's ability to deal with extreme lighting was challenged thus some of the video is a little contrasty but this sort of adds to the effect. Forgive me if you find it dragging a little at the end it's because I lived the experience and still can't get enough of it! That altitude is addictive watch out!
