While we were at DC Vegfest we interviewed Elissa Lane, Assistant Campaign Manager for Humane Society International's (HSI) Farm Animal Protection Division for Latin America. Elissa works primarily with campaigns in Mexico, Brazil and Costa Rica focused on intensive confinement of chickens and sows. Since Brazil is one of the world' s largest meat producers and exporters, and because I lived there for 12 years, I had a special interest in hearing more about HSI's campaigns, challenges and breakthroughs there.
