On July 13, 2009, Friends of Seattle (www.friendsofseattle.org) hosted a mayoral candidate forum, which was moderated by Erica C. Barnett, the News Editor of PubliCola. The event took place at Spitfire in Belltown, and approximately 100 people attended. Candidates Michael McGinn, James Donaldson, Jan Drago, and Norman Sigler participated. Mayor Greg Nickels, the incumbent, was in Washington, DC and therefore was unable to attend. On his behalf, Michael Mann of the city's Office of Sustainability and Environment gave opening and closing statements.
