Episode 267: Trader Joe's Shepherd's Pie

I'm convinced if you have a piece of meat, some vegetables, and a starch, you can make a shepherd's pie. In fact in college, I used to take some leftover manwich, some Idahoan, and some canned corn and layered them into what I affectionately called shepherd's pie. But I was young and naive and it wasn't anything close to what shepherd's pie was supposed to be. In fact, according to wikipedia, Shepherd's Pie with beef is actually called Cottage Pie. Shepherd's pie is cottage pie with lamb. This Trader Joe's Shepherd's Pie is neither a cottage pie nor is it made with lamb. Rather it is like a beef stew with mashed potatoes on top.
