Prior to his current posting, he served as an advisor to Pakistani Prime Ministers Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi, Nawaz Sharif, and Benazir Bhutto. Dr. Stephen P. Cohen is a Senior Fellow in Foreign Policy at the Brookings Institution. He is the author or editor of 12 books on South Asian security including The Pakistan Army and The Idea of Pakistan. Cohen is a former member of the State Department's Policy Planning Staff. He received a PhD in political science from the University of Wisconsin. Shuja Nawaz is author of Crossed Swords: Pakistan , Its Army, and the Wars Within. He also works with RAND, USIP, CSIS, and Georgetown University on projects dealing with Pakistan . Nawaz is a former Cabot Fellow and recipient of the Henry Taylor Intern ational Correspondent Award.
