What are the crises that Filipino women are presently going through? How do they adjust to the multiple burdens that they are made to shoulder? And what forms of external assistance and organization are being made available to them? On March 24, 2011, in a forum entitled “Stories of and by Women in the Midst of Multiple Crisis”, Filipinas from the basic sectors gathered in order to share their experiences of poverty, hardship and crises across the social spectrum, and in order to build solidarity for future political campaigns. The event also served to launch the up-and-coming “State of the Filipino Women Project”, a research initiative aiming to document the ways in which Filipino women live through and surmount the slew of socio-economic crises of the present.
