Something we did a few years back was to host the Flying Dog Beer Drinker's Marathon, where marketing lackey Chris Rippe kicked Eric Warner's ass in a short race and was rewarded with being President for a day. Well, two weeks ago we were at it again. Chris raced his boss, Neal "I'm Kind of a Big Deal" Stewart, around our brewery. The pace was furious, especially considering the quantities of beer that was imbibed - at one point in the evening, Rippe was drinking Double Dog Double Pale Ale out of a 32 ounce stein we gave him as a going away present. Anyhow, we filmed the debauchery and are letting you fine people check it out. Does Rippe defend his honor? What makes someone a notable drunk in our eyes? Well, if you're Zane Lamprey, it's because you get paid to fly to exotic locales, meet new interesting people from different cultures, and ultimately get drunk with those people. Zane, the host of Three Sheets (which up until Dec 2008 has been aired on the MojoHD channel), was gracious enough to grant us an interview while we were at the Great American Beer Fest. This year's Artomatic is taking place through June 15, 2008 and has 800 artists showing in 250,000 square feet of a newly-built office building. 50,000 people are anticipated throughout the 6 weeks the show is up. Flying Dog Brewery was one of the supporting breweries at the first-ever Savor festival in Washington D.C. Flying Dog Brewery was one of the sponsors for a unique fundraiser. The Women's Lighthouse Project is a Denver-based organization that empowers women with HIV to live healthy, productive and supported lives. This event came a few days before World AIDS Day, and we were happy to be a part of it. We had a release party at the Blake Street Tavern for our new Wild Dog release, an Open Source Doppelbock. Also sampled were some experimental Canis Major beers, such as a Barrel-Aged Horn Dog Barley Wine and Gonzo Imperial Porter with Brettanomyces (google it). Ralph Steadman recently spent time in Denver on an international book tour. Ralph was promoting his new book entitled "The Joke's Over," but he found time in his busy schedule to come down to Flying Dog Brewery, where he met with all of us underling employees for a few hours. Once we got a few brews into his belly, Ralph did some original art for employees, as seen in this video.
